North Uncanoonuc - Mother's Day

For the first hike of the spring/summer we decided to try out North Uncanoonuc which is only 20 minutes from the house.  We have driven past it 1000s of times and never considered hiking, or even knew there were trails up.  I have driven up North Uncanoonuc to the wonderful forest of attractive cell towers and chain link fences.  But knew nothing of South Uncanoonuc.

So a google search and I found the trail map and chose the White Dot Trail that ascends from the north.  The trail is only 0.6 miles but includes 800 feet of elevation gain which is a fair amount for such a small hill and short hike.

Nice day and easy hike (though it still took us several hours) .  Due to proximity to home I'm sure we'll be back some day.
